Hi sweet friends!

I have a card for Cloud9 Crafts store to share with you today. There is a new challenge for this month (April 2023) and it’s all about ‘Masking’. This is very out of my comfort zone, but I gave it a go. Let me tell you how this card came together!

You can find a full supply list here.

I started by die cutting a rectangle with the largest of the Stitched Rectangles from Lawn Fawn. Since I was going to be ink blending, I chose my favorite cardstock for this, which is Bristol Smooth.

I used Gina K Masking Magic Strips to mask a few ‘stripes’ so I would get 8 triangles on my card. I wanted to ink blend these in rainbow colors.

I did this with my blending brushes and Distress Inks in the colors Candied Apple, Worn Lipstick, Carved Pumpkin, Mustard Seed, Twisted Citron, Cracked Pistachio, Mermaid Lagoon and Wilted Violet. I didn’t splatter water or white gouache on top, but if I were to make this card again, I would probably do this to give it a little bit more interest.

When doing my ink blending, I did use the wide Heffy Doodle tape as well to mask off the rest of the panel, so I didn’t get ink everywhere… It was so fun to see the blended background when I removed the Masking Strips!

By the way: There are 3 widths in the Masking Magic Strips pack: 1/8 inch, 1/4 inch and 1/2 inch. I used the 1/4 inch strips for this card.

For my sentiment, I stamped one of the Magic Spring Messages onto a piece of Transotype Coloring Paper with Lawn Fawn Jet Black ink. I die cut it with the coordinating circle die. After that I took a few Copic Markers and I colored in the sentiment, again in rainbow colors. I used the colors: R24, RV14, YR16, YG23, G02, BG05, V06.

I popped up the sentiment with foam squares in the middle of the card panel.

I decided to blend the same colors Distress ink on little left over pieces of Bristol Smooth cardstock. Then I put a few butterflies on top of that ink blending and I die cut them with my Gemini Jr die cutting machine. I glued down the butterflies all over the rainbow blended panel with little dots of liquid glue.

To finish it off, I added a few glitter Nuvo Drops and I added white gel pen details on the butterflies and the sentiment.

I took a regular A2 sized card base and adhered my panel with the butterflies on the card base. And this finished off the card!

Thank you SO much for stopping by! I wish you a very happy day!

Love, Jarle x
