Hi you!
My best friend’s birthday is coming up… She really loves the Altenew flowers, so I thought I’d make her a card with one of my favorites.
To start, I taped down some Arches watercolor paper onto a board. I used hot press paper, since I was gonna do some no line watercoloring. You can capture more details using hot press paper.

I stamped the flower of the Altenew – Dotted Blooms set with the fade out ink from Ink on 3. To paint, I used the Altenew watercolor palette. I really love the colors on that palette.
I started watercoloring by putting on a light wash of Cotton Candy watercolor. It’s very important that you don’t work on 2 petals next to each other. I keep adding layers of Cotton Candy and Coral Berry. To give it some extra shading, I also used Purple Vine at the inside of the petals. I let the petals dry between each layer of color. I feel I have more control in that way… I added some details with a very fine 0 brush and Purple Vine in a flicking motion.

For the branch, I activated the Distress ink by laying a bit of water on top of it. Then I came in with Paper Bag watercolor. My first layer was very pale, for my second layer I used more pigment. The extra depth was created with Mocha watercolor and a size 0 brush.
Today I learned that the size of your paintbrush really matters in the end… So if you feel like you can’t add so many details, try using a smaller brush for it.
For my background, I put down a very diluted wash of Desert Night watercolor. When the panel was dry, I splattered on some of that same watercolor and added some Jet Black as well.
When the panel was dry, I die cut it with the Mama Elephant – Basic Rectangles. I put it in my Misti SPT and added a sentiment with Versafine Onyx Black ink.
I adhered it onto a card base with foam tape and added some sequins from Little Things from Lucy’s Cards. These Pastel Circles are my favorite!
I hope I gave you some inspiration to make someone’s heart happy.
Love, Jarle x
