Hi you!
I have some pretty exciting news today. I’m joining Simon Says Stamp as the Designer in the Spotlight of the SSS Wednesday Challenge. I’m so happy! This is the first time I’m doing something like this, so if you have any advice or comments, please let me know!
I hope you’ll be inspired by my work! Now let’s get crafty…
This week’s theme is ‘Stars and Stripes’ with MFT as the company in the spotlight. We don’t celebrate the 4th of July here in Belgium, but this doesn’t mean I can’t get excited for this theme… I decided to make a set of 4 cards, using only the MFT – Stars and Stripes set ànd the MFT – All About You set.
Card 1
I die cut a piece of Neenah Solar White 80lb, using the Mama Elephant Basic Rectangles set. I took the second largest die.
I put the panel in my Misti and put the stripes from the MFT – Stars and Stripes on my paper. I wanted an ombre effect for the stripes, so I used a different Altenew ink for each stripe. I used: Rouge, Crimson and Velvet.
The bold sentiment, I stamped in Versafine Onyx Black ink. This is my go to ink for watercoloring AND for sentiments. It gives such a crisp image!
With the largest rectangle from the same die set, I cut out a piece of Bazzil paper and adhered it to my A2 sized card base. I put my panel on top and the card was finished!

Card 2
My second card started off the same way with die cutting a piece of Neenah Solar White 80lb, using the Mama Elephant Basic Rectangles set. I then stamped my sentiment in Versafine Onyx Black ink. I started at the bottom and worked my way up.
With 3 Altenew inks, I put down 3 stars from the same MFT – Stars and Stripes set. The colors I used for the stars are: Turquoise, Tide Blue, Starlight.
For the finishing touches, I die cut a panel of Bazzil Whirlypop paper with the same size as my A2 card base. I again put the panel on top of the colored card base and this simple card was finished too.

Card 3
I die cut a piece of regular black cardstock with the largest Mama Elephant Basic Rectangles. I prepared my panel with an antistatic powder tool, so I wouldn’t have any stray embossing powder. I laid down my stripes from the MFT – Stars and Stripes and stamped it with Versamark ink. To emboss, I used WoW Gold Rich embossing powder. I did this in different steps; moving the stripes further down the panel. I always prepped my panel again with the powder tool.
The sentiment came from the MFT – All About You set. I stamped this again with Versamark on black cardstock and embossed it with the same embossing powder. I attached the sentiment on the panel with foam squares and the panel on the card base with Tombow glue.

Card 4
For the last card, I again die cut a panel of Neenah Solar White 80lb, using the Mama Elephant Basic Rectangles set. I placed the sentiment ‘you’ from the All about you stamp set in my Misti. I prepped it again with my antistatic powder tool and stamped it with Versamark ink. I embossed the sentiment with WoW – Metallic Silver embossing powder.
I repeated this process with all the stars from the MFT – Stars and Stripes set. For the stars, I wanted a softer look so I went with Ranger White embossing powder.
I then blended my background with Distress Oxides in Fossilized Amber, Ripe Persimmon and Candied Apple. The embossed stars resist the ink, so they stayed white the whole time.
My little sentiment was embossed on black cardstock with the same silver embossing powder and adhered on the panel with foam squares.

This was the last card for this week. Hope you liked it! See you again next week!
I hope I gave you some inspiration to make someone’s heart happy.
Love, Jarle x
