Hi you!

This week, I wanted to make a thank you card for my mom. I used Altenew’s Sketchy Floral stamp set to create a large flower on my card.

After preparing my Bristol Smooth paper with an antistatic powder tool, I stamped the flower with Versamark ink and gold embossed it with Wow Metallic Gold Rich embossing powder. This is my absolute favorite golden color.

When the outline image was smooth and melted, I could begin the coloring process. I used my Zigs to watercolor the image. I started with a lighter shade for the first layer and went over it with a darker color for the second layer. I made sure I worked with light and shadow to create some depth in the flower.

These are the colors I used:

  • Flower: geranium red (first layer) – deep red (second layer)
  • Leaves: emerald green (first layer) –  deep green (second layer)
  • Background and shadow: gray brown

When the card panel was dry, I embossed my ‘thank you’ sentiment in the same embossing powder.

I adhered the panel to my card base with some foam tape (quite a lot actually since I used a fairly amount of water for the watercoloring). CARD FINISHED!

Additionally, I created a matching envelope out of Neenah solar white 80lb cardstock, using my WRMK envelope punch board. I embossed a little piece of the flower on the envelope and ink blended over it, using the distress inks ‘fired brick’, ‘dusty concord’ and ‘evergreen bough’.  ENVELOPE FINISHED!

Happy with the card; not so happy with the envelope… But it’s all about practicing, isn’t it? 🙂

I hope I gave you some inspiration to make someone’s heart happy.

Love, Jarle x
