Hi you!

There’s a new challenge on the Lawnfawnatics blog this week. It’s all about using ‘happy little critters’ in cards. I decided to give it a try and used one of my favorite sets, called ‘LF – Meow you doing‘. I also made a matching envelope so I could enter this project on the SSS blog too (challenge: card + envelope).

Card

I took a piece of Tim Holtz’ watercolor paper, trimmed it down to an A2 card size and taped it to my board for a bit of watercoloring. I used the Gansai Tambi watercolors with numbers 42 (yellow), 34 (pink) and 37 (purple). First I wet the paper with clean water so the colors would blend nicely into each other. When the watercolor paper was dry, I splattered some pink paint for a finishing touch.

Onto some Bristol Smooth paper, I stamped 3 cats from the stamp set with Versafine Onyx Black ink and watercolored them with my Zigs. All three cats are colored with ‘gray brown’ and shaded with ‘natural gray’.

After my panel was dry, I stamped the sentiment on the card panel and adhered my 3 little cats with foam tape. I’m really pleased with how it turned out!

Envelope

I used the WRMK envelope punch board to make my envelope out of Neenah Solar White 80lb paper. I first stamped one cat of the stamp set on the left side of the envelope. I masked the cat with a post-it and stamped the little basket on top before adding a mask to the basket too. After that, I took my distress oxides and ink blended with the colors Fossilized Amber, Picked Raspberry and Seedless Preserves. I splattered some water to get that oxidized effect.

When the ink was dry, I colored the cat and his basket with Copic markers:

  • Cat: C0 – C3
  • Basket: B91 – B93 / E33 – E35

I hope I gave you some inspiration to make someone’s heart happy.

Love, Jarle x
