Hi you!

I’m back with a love themed shaker card. It was the first time I created a shaker and it sure won’t be the last. It was not as difficult as I initially thought.

I made 2 cards with the same design. The first one is a birthday card (because we always need one of those, don’t we?) and the second one can serve as a Valentine’s card.

For the black card, I diecut a heart out of some regular dark cardstock. I used the Heartstrings die from Concord&9th. I cut the same die out of some red cardstock to create a red frame. After that, I took a sheet of heat resistent acetate and glued it to the back of the black card panel. I made sure no glue was visible on the acetate. I also glued the red frame on the front of the panel.

Then I took some foam tape that I ran across the back of the panel, following the heart shape. It’s also very important to take your antistatic powder tool and run it against the edges of the foam tape. This will remove the stickiness so the sequins won’t stick to the tape when you shake it. I put in some white and gold sequins and adhered another black card onto that foam tape. The shaker mechanism is all set at this point!

I adhered this shaker part onto a firm cardbase of 110lb. I chose my sentiment and glued it onto the front panel. For the black card, I added a dashed line with my white gelly roll pen. For the red card, I added some interest by going over the heart border with white pigment inkt (Hero Arts Unicorn Ink). Important to know: I did this step before I added the acetate, just to make sure my acetate stayed clean.

I hope I gave you some inspiration to make someone’s heart happy.

Love, Jarle x
